The table depicts how a developing country’s mobile users use their phone’s different functions between 2006 and 2010.

Overall, it is clear from the table that the vast majority make calls, with most taking photos and texting. The use of other functions varies.

While calls were almost consistent at 100% over the four year period, taking photos rose from 66% to 76% and texting increased to 79% from 73%.

Other uses had between 10% and 20% use or no data in 2006, after which all rose. Playing games rose dramatically from 17% to 42% with surfing the internet rising even faster from no data to roughly the same figure, 41% in 2008. Game playing continued at about the same level in 2010, while internet use continued its rise to 73%. Much slower rises were recorded for playing music which rose steadily from 12% in 2006 to 26% in 2010. recording video, on the other hand, increased slowly from no data in 2006 to 9% in 2008 before having a substantial rise to 35% 2 years later.
