How Did You get Here Today?
1/ Giving a reason
I got an Uber here today, quite frankly, because the. The subway is often so crowded and can be quite unpredictable. And as for the bus, well, you never know when it’s going to arrive.
2/ Adding information
I got an Uber here today. There was a nice. It was a nice driver. Her name was Sharon, and she told me some things about her life, and I think the journey in total came to about ten pounds, 35. So it was very. It was fine, actually.
3/ Comparing to the past
I got an Uber here today, and to be honest, I think they’re great. You know, in the past, I used to drive myself, and if that happened today, I would have arrived all flustered and worried about being on time. It was much more relaxing taking the uber.
Speaking Analysis
This is my opinion of the above answers. The answer was given as in a test, with minimal preparation time.
Answer 1 – Good. I answer the question then give a reason why we do.
Answer 2 – Good. I answer the question, then add more information about the journey.
Answer 3 – Good. I answer the question and compare the present with the past.
Less Common and Idiomatic Vocabulary
- frankly – honestly
- crowded – full of people, leaving little or no room for movement
- unpredictable – changeable
- in total, come to – the total cost
- flustered – agitated or confused
