These are high-scoring sample answers for the B2 First Speaking Part 1 question: How Much Exercise Do You Do Each Day? 3 Sample Answers for the Question
How Much Exercise Do You Do Each Day?
1/ Adding information
I do quite a lot, actually. I take the dog out for a walk twice a day. I also do exercises in front of the tv or my phone. And so, I follow these people who are doing exercises on maybe TikTok or something, and so I exercise several times a day.
2/ Giving a reason
I do quite a lot of exercise, actually, because most of my work involves sitting in front of a computer. And so, it’s very easy for me to become a little overweight or to become unhealthy, and so it’s much easier. My life is much easier if I exercise.
3/ Time detail
I exercise quite a lot each day. I take the dog out for a walk twice a day, which is about an hour and 20 minutes in total. I also exercise, do an exercise routine off my phone and I do that three times a day and that’s maybe about five or ten minutes each time. So, all in all, it’s about 2 hours.
Speaking Analysis
This is my opinion of the above answers. The answer was given as in a test, with minimal preparation time.
Answer 1 – Good. I answer the question then add more information.
Answer 2 – Good. I answer the question, then add reasons.
Answer 3 – Good. I answer the question and add details related to time.
Less Common and Idiomatic Vocabulary
- overweight – above a weight considered normal or desirable
- to take the dog out for a walk – to go outside with the pet dog so he can exercise and do the toilet
- in total – Including everything added together
- an exercise routine – an activity specifically planned to develop and maintain physical fitness
- all in all – on the whole
