Letter of Apology
Your friend invited you to his/her birthday party, but you were unable to attend. Write a letter apologizing for your absence. In your letter:
- state why you could not go
- explain your reason for not contacting your friend sooner
- suggest another time to meet
Hi Col,
How’re you doing? I’m just writing to say how sorry I am about missing your birthday party. It’s a really long story, but anyway, I hope it was as good as you thought it was going to be.
I had this incredible pain in my kidneys that afternoon. I thought I was going to die it was so sore. My mum had to come and take me to the hospital, where they said I had a kidney stone.
I would’ve been in touch earlier, but the pain kept coming back. Every time I thought it was over, it would start again. Really sore when I had a pee! Should be gone now, though. I felt it go.
Anyway, why don’t we meet up one weekend? I’m free most weekends and this Saturday there’s a great film on at the cinema that we could go and see if you want.
Sorry again Col, I’d really like to meet up soon, especially if you want to see that film on Saturday. Let me know what you think.
