Academic IELTS Task 1 Essay Sample Answer

Advice

A friend wants to spend a four-week holiday in your country and has written asking for advice about the trip. Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:

  • offer to find somewhere to stay
  • give advice about what to do
  • give information about what clothes to bring

Hi James,

Just getting back to you with some thoughts about what you could do when you come here on holiday.

I would love to be able to put you up in my house, but it’s crammed already. My aunt has room though, so you could use it as a base when you go travelling.

You could easily spend all your time in London for four weeks, but because it’s your first trip to the UK, I reckon you would be better to go to places like Stonehenge, The Lake District, York and even a trip up to Scotland to visit Edinburgh, which is stunning.

If you’re coming in your summer holidays, don’t dress for very warm weather. It may be hot for a day or two, but usually the weather is very changeable, so bring a variety of clothes and wear layers.

Anyway, these are my suggestions for now and I hope they give you food for thought. If you want to discuss it any further, just get back in touch and we’ll plan a great itinerary for you.

Keep in touch

Alan
