Looking at this question an unusual meal. You think, yeah, yeah, yeah, I’ve had many unusual meals, but actually trying to remember one specific one is really quite difficult. I was thinking of, you know, the time I had grits in America, in New York, and I thought it was disgusting. Thinking about the time that I had a fish that had been baked in the sand in Thailand, which was wonderful. The most unusual I think would be a time when I was a student and I had a summer, well it wasn’t really a summer job, but I got a job one summer working on a pipeline. They were laying a huge gas pipeline relatively near my home and I drove so that wasn’t really a problem. But I had this job and this crew and it was dirty, it was cold, often it was wet and it was really not a very nice job but the money was really very good. And we started very early in the morning, and maybe about half past nine, ten o’clock, no, maybe it was at eight-thirty or nine o’clock, we had breakfast. And there was a bus, an old bus that was used as a canteen, in the middle of nowhere, beside this trench where the pipe was going to go and so on. And it was muddy and horrible and all the men went into the bus and sat down in their places and I remember one morning in particular the cook had done a fantastic steak and black pudding and bacon and eggs and beans and mushrooms and the whole works and it couldn’t have been more welcome because the day was so cold and wet and horrible and disgusting and it was in such a strange setting.
