Question

Why might the people have decided to walk in these places?

Beach - Why might the people have decided to walk in these places? - B2 First Speaking Part 2 Question
Mountains - Why might the people have decided to walk in these places? - B2 First Speaking Part 2 Question

Sample Answer

1 minute to compare and contrast the two pictures as well as answer the question.

Both pictures show one person, so the first reasons that comes to mind as to why they are walking in these places is the need for solitude and perhaps a desire to think a problem through. However, in the first photo, it looks as if there is also a beautiful sunset in a warm country, so they may also be soaking up the relaxing atmosphere on an evening stroll. On the other hand in the second photo, the weather doesn’t look nearly so welcoming, but you can imagine the air being cold and fresh, so perhaps the person needs to clear their head of any stress they may have and get some exercise as well. Their walk will probably be much more energetic than the one on the beach, however, they will need to take care they are not too cold before returning home.
