B2 First Speaking

Question

Why might the people have chosen these forms of book?

Reading a Kindle in a cafe - B2 First Speaking Part 2 Question
Reading a book at home - B2 First Speaking Part 2 Question

Sample Answer

1 minute to compare and contrast the two pictures as well as answer the question.

I would say in general that the woman reading a Kindle in a cafe reads one so she can easily keep it in her bag and read it whenever it takes her fancy. The young woman in the second picture, however, looks as if she enjoys the whole experience of sitting in comfort at home, turning the pages and feeling the weight of the real book. She will not have to think of whether she has enough power to read the book, but the Kindle reader will need to make sure it is charged at all times. Saying that, the Kindle reader will just be able to buy another book seconds after finishing the one she is reading, while the young woman at home may have to wait until she can go to a bookshop and buy another or even wait several days until one is delivered after buying it online.
