IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer – Describe Another City You Would Like to Stay in for a Short Time

I would like to visit most of the capitals in Europe, because I haven’t been to so many. I haven’t been to Berlin, Rome, Madrid, any of these places. But there’s one place I’ve always really wanted to go to, funnily enough, and that’s Marseille, in the south of France. I have no memory of why, but I’ve wanted to go there for quite some time. I always imagined doing something like doing it by train. So I would get the train to London, catch the Eurostar over the Channel and I believe there’s also a high-speed train from Paris or the north of France somewhere down to Marseille. To be quite honest I really have no idea about Marseille at all except I know it’s a port, I know it’s a kind of place that in history has seemed to be a kind of rough and ready place maybe full of pirates and people who traded from different countries across from the north of Africa and other Mediterranean countries. I would like to stay there. I’d like to take my wife and my daughter. I think they would enjoy going somewhere quite warm, somewhere quite exciting. You know, I imagine, in my imagination, I have no idea if it’s true or not, In my imagination, you know, maybe we could pop along the coast to Monte Carlo for a day, or even go to visit one of my old colleagues who lives slightly inland of there.
