Sample Answer

1 minute to compare and contrast the two pictures you have chosen as well as answer the two questions.

I’d like to talk about the first picture and the third picture. The girl in photo 1 seems to be a student doing homework. She will have both the short term challenge of finishing her assignment and the longer term challenge of completing her course. The same could be said for the chef in photo 3, who needs to cook a superb meal while also maintaining his reputation or maybe even keeping his job. In my opinion, the girl has it easier, due to the fact that she can take her time to produce her best work, whereas the chef has more pressure due to some hungry people waiting for his creation. While the girl needs to be self-motivated, the chef will have more external pressures, but both of them will need confidence and self-belief to complete their tasks as well as time management, although on different time scales.

Analysis

This is my opinion of the above answer. The answer was given as in a test, with minimal preparation time.

Although I start to talk about the girl, I manage to show similarities to the chef. After that, I show similarities and differences by switching between them. This is easy to do as long as you are confident enough to speak through your mistakes and have practiced enough to reduce hesitation to a minimum.

Used various ways to compare and contrast but still used ‘while’ more than I would have liked.

I thought some good vocabulary was used.
